FIRE Highly flammable. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames, NO sparks, and NO smoking.
Powder, alcohol-resistant foam, water spray, carbon dioxide.
EXPLOSION Vapour/air mixtures are explosive.
Closed system, ventilation, explosion-proof electrical equipment and lighting. Do NOT use compressed air for filling, discharging, or handling.
In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.
EXPOSURE
STRICT HYGIENE!

  • INHALATION
    		• Burning sensation. Cough. Sore throat. Chest pain. Shortness of breath.
    		Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
    		Fresh air, rest. Half-upright position. Artificial respiration if indicated. Refer for medical attention.
  • SKIN
    		• MAY BE ABSORBED! Redness. Pain. Blisters.
    		Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
    		Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse skin with plenty of water or shower. Refer for medical attention.
  • EYES
    		• Severe eye irritation. Redness. Pain. Tear drawing. Blurred vision.
    		Face shield.
    		First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION
    		• Burning sensation of the mouth, throat and digestive tract. Headache. Nausea. Weakness.
    		Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.
    		Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Give plenty of water to drink. Refer for medical attention.
    SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
    Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place (extra personal protection: complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus).
    		Fireproof. Separated from strong oxidants, strong acids.

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
     COLOURLESS LIQUID , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:
     The vapour mixes well with air, explosive mixtures are easily formed.

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
     The substance decomposes on heating or on burning producing toxic gases (nitrogen oxides). The substance is a medium strong base. Reacts voilently with oxidants and acids. Attacks copper, tin, aluminium and zinc. Solutions of diallylamine in water may attack glass.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
     TLV not established.
    PDK: 1 mg/m3 P (USSR 1987).


    		ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
     The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, through the skin, and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
     A harmful contamination of the air can be reached rather quickly on evaporation of this substance at 20░C, however much faster on spraying.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
     Corrosive. The substance is very corrosive to the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. Inhalation of the vapour may cause lung oedema (see Notes). Inhalation of the vapour may cause effects on the heart. Medical observation is indicated.

    NOTES
    Explosive limits are unknown in literature. Diallylamine can react with nitrating agents to form carcinogenic nitrosamines. The symptoms of lung oedema often do not become manifest until a few hours have passed and they are aggravated by physical effort. Rest and medical observation are therefore essential. Immediate administration of an appropriate spray, by a doctor or a person authorized by him/her, should be considered. The relation between odour and the occupational exposure limit cannot be indicated.
